Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, and Premiere Pro
An inspiring and peaceful event for astronomy enthusiasts to gather and explore the universe.
For this project, I created illustrations in Adobe Illustrator, then imported the elements into After Effects for animation, and put it all together in Premiere Pro. I chose animated vector graphics to keep the design simple and clear, aligning with the project’s theme. Inspired by the smooth motion graphics of seven on YouTube, I referenced a bit of their animations and visual style.
As this was my first time using After Effects for a project like this, I relied on YouTube tutorials to learn new techniques. The process involved a lot of trial and error, especially with refining the rocket’s speed easing and adjusting the smoke trail. Despite some lag issues in Premiere Pro, the experience greatly expanded my technical skills.
One early challenge was selecting a colour palette. I was more familiar with high-contrast colours, so I researched subtler gradients to match the project’s tone. I also refined the typography, switching from a bold font to a thinner typeface to better suit the theme and ensure legibility against the background. After viewing the final design on a video wall, I made additional tweaks for clarity.
Overall, I'm pleased with the outcome. The combination of illustrations, typography, and motion graphics created a cohesive, visually striking result. This project was a great learning experience, and I'm excited to take on more motion design projects in the future.
